Initial Consultation
We’ll start with an initial conversation about your vision and goals for your smile: what are you trying to achieve? We’ll also assess your oral health and determine whether veneers are a suitable option for you.
Treatment Planning
If veneers make sense for you, we’ll schedule a second visit to develop a personalized treatment plan that’ll deliver your desired results. We’ll determine the required number of veneers and take an impression of your teeth, which we’ll use to make customized veneers.
We go to great lengths to ensure that your custom veneers have a natural appearance and blend in seamlessly with your natural teeth. We’ll work closely with specialized dental veneer technicians to design custom veneers that reflect the shape, size, proportions and contours of your natural teeth and/or your desired appearance.
We’ll also consider factors like color variations, as well as enamel translucency, to complement the surrounding appearance. We’ll carefully select the shade of porcelain material that most closely matches your natural tooth color and/or the color of surrounding teeth.
Prep and Temporary Veneers
In a follow-up visit, we’ll prepare your teeth for veneers by gently removing a thin layer of enamel from the front surface of all teeth that are receiving veneers. This step creates space for the veneers. We’ll then create and attach temporary veneers, which protect your prepared teeth and maintain aesthetics while the permanent veneers are custom made.
Veneer Placement
When your custom veneers are ready, we’ll make sure they have the ideal fit, shape, and aesthetics (e.g., color, appearance). We’ll then remove your temporary veneers, and replace them with with the permanent veneers, bonded permanently with a very strong dental adhesive.
Final Adjustments
If necessary, we’ll schedule a follow-up visit to make any final adjustments and ensure proper bite. We’ll also provide guidance on how best to preserve the longevity of your veneers.
We’re confident that you’ll love your new smile!
Veneers are thin shells made of durable dental ceramic that are bonded to the front surface of your teeth. They are custom-made to improve the function and appearance of your smile, and designed to look natural alongside your other teeth.
Porcelain veneers can correct a range of cosmetic dental issues, including chipped, cracked, or stained teeth, gaps between teeth, worn down or uneven teeth, and minor misalignments.
With proper care and maintenance, porcelain veneers can last for a decade or more. The actual lifespan depends on several factors, including whether you’ve avoided grinding your teeth, and whether you’ve maintained good oral health overall.
When preparing teeth for veneers, a small amount of enamel is removed, which is irreversible. However, advances in dentistry enable us to minimize enamel removal.
Yes! We take many steps to ensure that your veneers are beautiful and indistinguishable from your natural teeth. We work with a dental porcelain specialist to customize the porcelain’s size, shape, proportions, contours, textures, and colors, so that your veneers seamlessly blend in with the rest of your smile.
Veneers are very durable. However, they’re not unbreakable, and you’ll want to exercise caution to preserve their lifespan. For example, you should avoid biting very hard objects such as ice and nutshells.
